About EAPA
We are a grassroots community organization built by and for East African families in Ottawa.

A Community Built on Care
The East African Parents Association (EAPA) is a grassroots community organization dedicated to supporting East African families and newcomers as they settle and build their lives in Ottawa, Canada.
We were created because we saw a need — families arriving in Ottawa with strength, resilience, and hope, but often without the connections and information they needed to thrive. EAPA exists to bridge that gap.
We are not a large settlement agency or a government program. We are a community organization — run by people who understand the East African experience because we live it ourselves.
Our Relationship with NROCRC
EAPA works under the mentorship of the Nepean Rideau Osgoode Community Resource Centre (NROCRC). NROCRC provides guidance, support, and resources that help EAPA grow and serve our community more effectively. This relationship allows us to remain a grassroots, community-led organization while benefiting from the experience and infrastructure of an established community resource centre.
Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of East African community members through strong leadership, good governance, and meaningful community support, helping individuals and families achieve health, wellbeing, and successful integration in Ottawa.
Our Vision
Our vision is for East African communities in Ottawa to experience a positive, supportive, and caring environment where individuals and families can thrive and successfully integrate into Canadian society.
